Notes![Kathleen and the Catholic Conflict
Growing up, my parents were never super-religious. Yes, I was baptized/recieved communion/confirmed, but it was never a traditional Catholic household. We didn’t go to Mass, my parents were realistic about sex and my siblings & I went to public high school; my brother and I went to non-religious affiliated universities. I consider myself spiritual—I do believe in a higher power, I believe that whoever it is loves everyone, and that things work out for a reason. The higher spiritual power is forgiving, they don’t seek to hurt you for no reason. They may test you, but it is never to punish or for kicks. These “hippie-ish” beliefs have gotten me through, but lately, I’ve been noticing that perhaps some of the more rigid parts of Catholicism have been getting to me. [Read More]
